Etsy x Bride Australia Trunk Show 2015

Last night, Karen and I were very fortunate to be invited to Etsy x Bride Australia’s first ever collaborative Trunk Show at Melbourne’s 1000 £ Bend to celebrate their mutual love for weddings. As VIP guests, we were able to relax, venture around the stalls and meet all 20 creative Etsy Sellers. Besides being a busy on the iphone “insta this and insta that” of all the gorgeousness around us for @instasocial, we were glad to finally put a face behind the Etsy Sellers from all over Australia and even New Zealand! We even had a chance to learn how to make our very own flower crown! The perfect idea for a hen’s night too!

If you are bride looking for creative styling ideas, whether it is a cute little bow tie for your guy, or an engraved wedding ring with the letters “When I met you I fell in love with you” ring, or some beautiful hand calligraphy invitation cards, this is the Trunk Show to be. Intimate and cosy.

Here are the details in case you’ve missed it:

The two-day event (Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October) at Melbourne’s 1000 £ Bend (361 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne) will feature the work of Etsy sellers from around Australia with more than 20 sellers on hand to showcase their products and their making process.

Thank you so much Etsy and Bride Australia for having us, we had such an inspiring night of fun and adventure! xxx

Best Christmas Ever 2014

Wishing you and your family the best Christmas ever! Thank you SO MUCH for following our incredible journey of wedding, portrait and fashion photography from Melbourne to Sydney and all the way to New York!

We sincerely owe it to you guys. We cherish all the love and kindness you have shown to us for this past year, and we look forward to creating more moments together in year 2015.

In the meanwhile, stay happy, healthy and safe.

Love and blessings, Alan, Karen, Arlene and Stephanie.

PS – Our studio is currently closed until 7th of January 2015. Please email us at and we will endeavour to answer all enquiries. Thank you xo

Elise & Tom are Tying the Knot

We can’t believe how quickly the winter months have flown by and it is already Spring! You know what that means? The beginning of our busy wedding season! In fact, our studio hasn’t stopped churning. We have been ultra busy working on a few exciting commercial projects with Werribee Plaza, Roar Accessories, James Varnish (to name a few) and hence our blog is feeling a little neglected. Then next, I’ll be jet setting to New York (yes NYC!) for fashion week to shoot their street style and represent a few Aussie designers and media outlets to capture the experience and street style images. If you want to follow my journey, just click on over to Instagram and find me @heykarenwoo.

Ok, with that out of the way, I want to introduce to you a very loving and sweet couple – Elise and Tom. They are two special friends in our lives whom we had the pleasure of knowing from the time we attended church together and played in a worship band with these two. So it was HUGE when these two asked me to be their official wedding photographer.

Here are the highlights of their gorgeous engagement session x

Life at our new creative loft

We have been incredibly blessed and inspired since moving in with our new friends at Chromatix, a Web Development & Digital Agency. They are a bunch of super friendly, nerdy talented and energetic people whom we trust, bounce ideas with, collaborate and even do the “Insanity” workout together. All in all, we clicked at first sight. We may appear to be two separate businesses, but honestly we are ONE creative hub who are fanatic about what we do. Hence our special codename is Finatix!

Here’s a collection of Iphone pics taken over the past few months to give you little peep into our work culture and lives at our new creative loft.

The next few frames are some of our favourite finished products. Our wedding couple below loved their wedding images so much that they ordered a presentation box of 22 black and white art mounted prints.

Let me explain why we have our phones stacked on each other. Well we have this lunch time policy where we have to hand in our phones and be sociable. If we reach for our phone, then we end up paying for the bill. Two Silvers Awards and Honour of Associate Professional Photographer!

A few weeks ago, our little family went to Queenstown to recharge our batteries. We spent most of our time at the snowfields where we sliced through 10cm of powdered snow with our skis and snowboards, mountain hopped between Corona Peak and Cardrona, did Go Pro videos of ourselves stacking down the steep hills, scoffed down Ferg burgers that barely fitted into our mouths, and relaxed in Onsen baths which overlooked the glistening stars in the sky.  It was a magnificent trip – one which we desperately needed before the wedding season kicked in. It’s already mid-September and it’s been madness in our studio! I’ve lost count on how many hours I’ve been standing on my two feet and looking through my Nikon view finder but we love it!

September has been jam packed with exciting work and events. We have had the privilege of working with Collins234 to create commercial images for their social media marketing strategy, worked with a beautiful couple who flew all the way from Singapore for their pre wedding shoot, captured three family and four engagement sessions, two massive Friday weddings (Docklands Maia and Brighton International venue) and last not the least we attended our first annual Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) awards ceremony night. It was AIPP’s 50th anniversary! We have never been surrounded with 500+ absolutely talented, mind-blowing and inspirational community of professional photographers. Anyway, we are extremely excited to receive another two prestigious Silver print awards within the Family category of the AIPP as sponsored by Canon! The best part of it all, I’ve moved up another photography level and was awarded an “Honour of Associate!” The AIPP levels are: Emerging, Accredited, Associate and Masters! To move up each level, you would need to submit your prints for judging and accumulate as many award points per print. Seems easy, but these titles are widely coveted by Photographers alike.

Relive the AIPP event by clicking the awe-inspiring film clip put together by Dean and Rochelle from Preface Films.
